pid4Cat is a handle-based PID system with a custom API and an underlying LinkML model for PID-related metadata. It provides persistent identifiers for samples, devices, and more, supporting early-stage research and integration from local RDM systems like ELNs to the central data repository Repo4Cat. It enables stable citation, long-term accessibility, and traceability of data, samples, and other digital research objects—across the entire data lifecycle.
In catalysis research, managing, sharing and re-using data across various stages and systems is challenging due to the lack of standardized identifiers. This leads to data fragmentation and inefficiencies. pid4Cat addresses this by providing persistent, metadata-rich identifiers that ensure consistent tracking, integration, and accessibility of resources across both central and local RDM systems.
