SHORT DESCRIPTION

The NFDI4Chem and NFDI4Cat have joined forces to develop a general metadata model that not only provides information about the file storage itself, but also its content. DCAT-AP⁺ is an extended metadata framework based on the W3C DCAT standard, developed to address the complex contextual relationships in catalysis data. DCAT-AP+4Cat is the catalysis-specific profile built upon DCAT-AP⁺, tailored to meet the needs of domain researchers, tools, and data platforms such as Chemotion, CaReD, and Repo4Cat. Supports JSON Schema validation, RDF conversion, and integration with tools like Chemotion, CKAN, and Triplestores enabling semi-automated metadata generation and sharing.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Current metadata standards like DCAT and schema.org lack the expressiveness to describe complex scientific contexts, data relationships, and provenance. Catalysis researchers need a domain-specific, extensible framework to support FAIR data management and interoperability across platforms.
