Voc4Cat: The Open Vocabulary for Catalysis Research Data

At the Leibniz Institute for Catalysis (LIKAT), a cloud-based research data platform has been developed within the NFDI4Cat consortium. Its core is Voc4Cat an open, machine-readable vocabulary that standardizes terms from laboratory work, analytics, and modeling. The aim is to make catalysis research data consistent, findable, and interoperable.

  • About 500 precisely defined terms with unique IRIs, synonyms, and semantic relations
  • Open community: contributions and comments via GitHub; curation ensures quality
  • FAIR-aligned: facilitates search, linking, and reuse of research data
  • Integration into journals, ELNs, and research portals; ChemCatChem already uses Voc4Cat keywords
  • AI support in progress: automatic processing of published papers for Voc4Cat
