In Frankfurt, 29 representatives from the NFDI community and the section’s Industry Advisory Board came together in June for the Co-Creation Workshop of the Section Industry Engagement. Together, they focused on data spaces, interoperability, and knowledge transfer between academia and industry with the aim of building bridges for more effective collaboration.

The discussions centered on clear standards, legal certainty, and appropriate incentive systems for sharing research data. It became evident that knowledge transfer can only succeed as a connected ecosystem in which academia, industry, and society truly engage in dialogue.

Special thanks go to the Industry Advisory Board members present and to the section’s speaker team Prof. Dr. Florian Stahl (University of Mannheim, BERD@NFDI) and Dr. Andreas Förster (DECHEMA, NFDI4Cat) as well as Chris Eberl (Fraunhofer IWM, NFDI-MatWerk) for the moderation, and Nikolai Grewe (sphin-X) for his keynote impulse on a data ecosystem for healthcare.

A heartfelt thank-you to DECHEMA for the hospitality and to all participants for their constructive and valuable contributions. The workshop impressively demonstrated how the section acts as a hub, a source of impetus, and an enabler making the added value of research data for business and society even more visible.
