From Metadata to Simulation: Connecting Data, Semantics and Workflows in Reaction Engineering

An NFDI4Cat Workshop on Metadata, ELN, and Digital Workflows in Reaction Engineering

As part of the Annual Meeting on Reaction Engineering 2026, the NFDI4Cat Workshop “From Metadata to Simulation” will take place on 26 May from 10:00–12:00, before the official start of the conference.

The NFDI4Cat initiative is driving the digital transformation of reaction engineering by linking metadata, electronic lab notebooks (ELNs), and process simulations through semantic workflows.

Participants will explore how standardized metadata, ontologies, and interoperable tools support the creation of transparent, reproducible, and simulation-ready workflows — from experiment planning to model execution.

Workshop highlights:

  • Capture and structure experimental data using ELNs and semantic metadata
  • Connect metadata and simulation models via semantic workflows
  • Reuse and share data efficiently across tools and environments
  • Learn how semantics enable automated and interoperable process simulations

Target audience:
Researchers, engineers, and industry professionals in reaction engineering and catalysis aiming to enhance data management, connect experimental and simulation data, and implement FAIR, digital workflows.

Join us to experience how NFDI4Cat makes reaction engineering FAIR, open, and data-driven — connecting metadata to simulation for a smarter research future.
